Hi, we are a party of 3 who are hiring a car in Marseille in Mid June this year and due to our tight itinerary have only 1 day to see the beautiful countryside. We realise concessions have to be made but as a group, we all agree on Aix-en Provence for a few hours of sightseeing but then we are uncertain as to whether to drive to Avignon and visit for another few hours or head to Arles.
Aix-en-Provence is famous for its market and many people visit the city solely to experience one of the best Provencal markets. If you only have one day in Aix-en-Provence, you should plan your visit around the big market days. The big market is held three times per week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 8:30am – 1:00pm.Summer is a distant memory with cooling temperatures and changing foliage. The vineyards of Provence transform into a blaze of gold, bronze, and red while towns and villages celebrate the "primeur" tastings of the season’s harvest from months earlier. And with the Toussaint holidays, you can expect reduced hours at major sites and attractions.

Driving Back To Aix-en-Provence. The drive back from Roussillon to Aix-en-Provence is about an hour and 10 minutes. Half the drive is through the mountains, so it’s not an easy drive but then the second half you’re back on the normal highway. There aren’t any toll roads when driving back either.
