That's 400 profit per bar when these are bought at 100, or about double the profit made while trading. samuricex Jul 26, 2014 @ 9:44pm. This basically means that you become a general for the faction you joined, command troops, and fight your factions' enemies with your army you command.
Also, your relations with other factions change if you become a mercenary. For example, if you join Swadia as a mercenary, and the swadians are at war with the nords, then you'll gain a +10 boost with swadia, but a -40 decrease with the Nords. When peace is signed, your relations with the nords should reset to 0.

Prophesy of Pendor is well-known as the best mod for Mount & Blade Warband, it has held the title without struggle since it's release, gaining a very large audience and fan-base. It most definitely holds up to said title, a completely new world, characters, factions, mechanics, and many more items introduced to you through Prophesy of Pendor

Features in Mount & Blade: Warband. Attack enemy lords and bandits to get started. Help lords battle an enemy faction as a mercenary. Become king or queen of all of Calradia.
Personally, don't be a mercenary, and don't become a vassal for Swadia. The king is pretty crap at keeping a kingdom and doesn't really treat vassals that good. Just work a independent chappy, doing quests for lords until they actually want you to become a vassal. Being a mercenary allows me to loot villages with impunity though.
Join as a mercenary first if you're not sure how exactly you want go about your campaign. If you don't care who you work for just wait and observe and then join a winning faction, raid caravans and villages, those will make you the easiest money and renown. Whether you start with a horse or not you can easily defeat those troops. First, wait for them to come to you. Often they will spread out which means you can take them one at a time. Next, let your two soldiers attack first and you come in and move around behind the enemy and stab them in the back. Hunting mystmountains are just a way to get renown, but after you army size has reached 50 it will become worthless, at this point just rely on mercenary payment start following the marshal or quest for Knighthood orders. This mercenary stage will last a long time, be sure to keep switching factions for troop variety. PNHWR.
